Style sheet use

All websites must use the web style sheets unless an exemption has been granted.

Websites should link to the style sheets hosted on to ensure all websites are kept up-to-date. Local copies of ANU style are not permitted as they will quickly get out-of-date. However, you are welcome to use a local caching system that automatically gets changes from the central styles.

ANU web style uses a combination of style sheets that includes:

  • Print style - for printing out pages (there is no longer any need for the printer-friendly button from the old style).
  • Responsive style - for compatibility with mobile phones and other portable devices.
  • College style - for implementing the relevant College colours. As part of the standard template set, the appropriate style sheet is selected based on the site ID.
  • University style - for all the presentation elements that can be used on any ANU website.

If the style sheets do not have the presentation you need, please work with us to develop an alternative. In special circumstances (such as developing new styles, or very specific applications), it may be permissible to use a local style sheet in addition to the main ANU web style sheets.
