The web style guide lists styles and principles for ANU sites to follow.
All new or substantially revised ANU-branded websites need to be registered and approved by the Marketing Office web team. Please create a Service Desk ticket when you are ready to begin.
ANU web style is tested for compatibility with a set of the most popular browsers. This set is updated roughly every three months based on analytics for the past month, and includes browsers used in at least five per cent of visits to ANU websites which we track. To fully test responsive layouts and functionality, the set also includes the most popular mobile browsers.
As of July 2018, the browsers tested against are:
- Internet Explorer 11 on Windows. 'Compatibility View' should be turned off.
- Chrome 64 and 68 on Windows
- Firefox 52 and 58 on Windows, 59 and 57 on Mac
- Safari 10 and 11 on Mac
- Safari 10 and 11 on iOS (iPhone and iPad)
- Chrome 59 on Android (smartphone)
Note: we do not support Internet Explorer 7 and 8, or compatibility view in other versions of IE.
Governance & support
Have you checked in with your local web manager or web team? Every College and most Divisions have a manager or team who oversee the websites in their area. The level of support they offer ranges from offering high level advice to building websites. As a general rule, you should keep the local web manager informed of any web activity you are involved in so that they can ensure it fits within the larger structure.
While the Marketing Office web team aren't always in a position to build sites for you, we are certainly here to offer help and suggestions and we encourage you to check in with us in the early stages of your web project so that we can provide you with the best support.
