ANU WordPress theme v4.0

Version 4.0 of the ANU WordPress theme utilises the new responsive design styles to optimise viewing on mobile devices. When upgrading from version 3.5.x you'll need to go through the following process carefully and then check your site to ensure that it still looks and functions as you expect.

Previous versions

You should already be using ANU WordPress theme version 3.5.2, however if you haven't yet upgraded from an older version (such as v3.3) there may be some confusion with the widget blocks – please refer to the previous setup process for version 3.4+ and ensure that your site is up-to-date before continuing.

Steps for upgrading

Throughout the upgrade process you may need to note settings and code snippets – you may find it easier to copy and paste from the web forms to a text editor, or take a collection of screenshots to refer to later in the upgrade process.

  1. Go to your website and login to the Wordpress admin interface (http://yoursitename.weblogs.anu.edu.au/wp-login.php)
  2. Go to Settings > General
    Note the settings
  3. Go to Plugins > Installed Plugins
Note which plugins are activated, and what settings they may have
  4. Go to Appearance > Widgets
Note the widgets/settings in each widget block, ensuring that you copy any HTML code
  5. Go to ANU Admin > ANU Admin
    Note the settings
  6. If you are using features on your home page, go to ANU Admin > Features
Note the settings, particularly the URL for images
  7. If you are using the Breadcrumb NavXT plugin, go to Settings > Breadcrumb NavXT
If it's been a while since you visited the admin settings for Breadcrumb NavXT you may receive a notification that your settings are out-of-date – click on the Migrate Now link to update your settings. Note the settings.

You are now ready to update your site to version 4.0 of the ANU WordPress theme.

Please proceed from step 5 of setup theme.
